An AE system based around direct connection to the industry standard high-speed (138MB/sec) PCI bus has significant advantages over conventional architecture. PCI-8 is the Physical Acoustics board used in Samos AE testing and monitoring systems, LPME, and many more OEM users.

PCI-8 Acoustic Emission System Board
 
PCI-8 is an eight channel 16-bit 1MSPS (per channel) parallel processing AE system with on-board power (AE or ICP), filtering, feature extraction, waveforms and data-streaming. In addition it has two DC 16-bit inputs, one a full instrumentation input, the other a 16-bit A-D. A high level of on-board digital signal processing makes this a powerful board which interconnects to more boards to make a parallel processing multi-channel front-end. Up to 64 channels may be installed in a single 19" chassis, and 24 channels will go into a notebook expansion chassis.
Each board has:
  • Eight independent 16-bit 1MSPS AE channels with 200KHz bandwidth each.
  • Continuous 2 MB/second acquisition rate per AE channel.
  • FPGA signal processing and digital feature extraction.
  • Continuous features: rms, ASL, absolute energy.
  • Transient features: time, amplitude, rise-time, count, energy, absolute energy, duration, counts to peak.
  • Auto Sensor Test.
  • Pre-amplifier power.
  • Four high pass, and four low pass, software controlled filters.
  • Industry standard PCI full-size board for high data transfer rates.
  • Waveform acquisition is standard.
  • Data streaming version optional.
  • One 16-bit instrumentation input, 1-1000x gain, plus one 16-bit input.
  • PCI-8-LF Low-frequency version 500Hz-20kHz.
  • AEWIN™ software, board drivers available for OEM.
