Motorised X, Y, Z are standard, and standard options include probe gimbal and swivel, turntable, bar-roller, and pendant system control. The ultrasonics package may be up to 25MHz (standard) or up to 130MHz (very high resolution).

 

Custom systems to any specification are designed and built, the advantage of using NDTA is that all design and manufacturing is handled in-house, including the software and ultrasonics, so there is no “passing the buck”.

 

Examples of custom systems include plate scanners using 30+ multiplexed sensors, systems for testing brazing on-line, a system for measuring diamond coating, gantry systems for inspecting large composite panels using through-transmission squirters, and systems for inspecting oil field risers.

 

Very large gantry and immersion systems may use servo motors to achieve high acceleration and speed.
