Developed originally by the AT&T NDE division, and subsequently purchased by PAC, this patented technology is used for metal inspection and quality control, especially spot and laser welds, and for measuring the depth of case hardness.
A precision measurement using a four point electrical probe and patented processing technology produces a measurement of the electrical resistance to an accuracy of millionths of an ohm-cm. For laser welds this relates directly to weld volume and hence weld strength. The M100a system was built to specifications from the automotive industry and may be manually operated or controlled by robot.
